Taking action on greenhouse gas emissions
Höegh Evi has set an ambitious goal to reduce our total CO2 emissions by 50% by 2030 (versus 2020 baseline). We remain steadfast in our commitment to meeting this target through implementing energy efficiency management plans for our assets, as well as other measures such as:
- Applying energy efficiency solutions to our vessels
- Monitoring fuel consumption and sharing data with charterers
- Configuring power production machinery, cargo management and keeping a close eye on hull performance
- Running engines on natural gas, which has the lowest CO2 emissions of all commercially available marine fuels
Taking action to minimize our environmental impact
Höegh Evi strives to limit any negative impact our operations might have on the environment and biodiversity, particularly on marine ecosystems. Our continuous performance monitoring ensures we are prepared to respond to changes in environmental guidelines and regulations. We proactively look for ways to be more environmentally friendly and have implemented a range of measures, including:
- Zero waste to sea policy
- Policies to prevent spills to sea
- ISO 14001 certification for all our vessels
- Environmental and social impact assessments for all new terminals
Taking action on waste management
We are committed to responsible waste management and environmental stewardship. From limiting plastic bottle usage to reducing food waste, we continue to make significant progress in waste management with our ongoing initiatives, such as:
- Using LED lighting
- Implementing grey water volume reduction systems
- Completing a pilot study on food digestion to reduce waste
- Equipping vessels with reusable water bottles and water dispensers
